Ferrari Enters the Electric Era with “Luce”

Ferrari has unveiled “Luce,” its first fully electric vehicle, marking a defining moment in the company’s evolution.

Starting at EUR 550,000—and exceeding EUR 700,000 with bespoke customisation—the model represents a bold shift in both design language and technological ambition for the Maranello-based brand.

Developed with designer Jony Ive and the LoveFrom collective, “Luce” introduces a minimalist aesthetic influence reminiscent of Apple’s design philosophy, particularly in its interior layout.

The vehicle also breaks new ground for Ferrari with a five-seat configuration, a fastback-inspired body design and nearly 600 litres of luggage capacity—features rarely associated with the brand’s traditional sports cars.

Ferrari Chairman John Elkann called the launch “a new chapter” for the company, while CEO Benedetto Vigna described it as a response to the “challenge of new technologies” and a distinct interpretation of electrification.

Technically, “Luce” is powered by a 122 kWh battery with 800-volt architecture and four electric motors—one per wheel—delivering a total output of 1,050 horsepower. Ferrari claims a range of 530 km and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds.

The launch took place across multiple events in Rome, following earlier previews and a dedicated showcase in San Francisco focused on its digital interface. Ferrari’s strategy is to expand its offering rather than replace combustion models, creating a multi-powertrain future.

Analysts are now watching closely to see whether “Luce” can reinvigorate investor confidence after recent stock performance fluctuations.
