WeRide has entered the Slovak market through a partnership with national initiative ELEVATE Slovakia, marking its fourth European expansion after France, Belgium and Switzerland. Pilot testing is set to begin in Bratislava in the first half of 2026, with plans to extend operations to Košice and the High Tatras ahead of fully driverless commercial services.
The ELEVATE Slovakia programme brings together public authorities, including the Ministry of Transport and the City of Bratislava, alongside academic and private sector partners. As part of the initiative, WeRide will deploy a range of autonomous solutions — including robotaxis, robobuses, delivery vans and sanitation vehicles — covering passenger transport, logistics and municipal services.
Local technology company DiusAi will act as implementation partner, supporting system integration and on-the-ground operations. All testing will be carried out under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport to ensure compliance with national and European regulations.
The rollout is positioned as one of Europe’s first large-scale deployments of multiple autonomous vehicle use cases within a single programme, as governments increasingly explore the integration of driverless mobility solutions.
