Hyundai Connected Mobility is introducing a new Online Map Download capability across its ccNC (connected car Navigation Cockpit) vehicles, marking a shift toward more dynamic and continuously updated navigation systems.
The feature enables vehicles to receive frequent map updates via over-the-air (OTA) technology, ensuring drivers benefit from the latest road changes, routing adjustments and speed limit information. Unlike previous update cycles, which bundled navigation data into larger, less frequent software releases, the new system delivers monthly, incremental updates.
Designed for efficiency, the vehicle downloads only the relevant map data in the background while driving, with updates becoming active at the next ignition cycle. This approach reduces downtime and avoids unnecessary data transfers, while keeping navigation systems consistently up to date.
By moving to a more granular update model, Hyundai aims to improve navigation accuracy, safety and overall user experience, aligning with the broader industry shift toward software-defined vehicles and connected services.
The rollout of Online Map Downloads will begin in March and will be available via OTA updates for vehicles equipped with ccNC systems. Access to the feature requires an active Bluelink PRO subscription.
According to Hyundai Connected Mobility CEO Markus Welz, the initiative reflects the company’s focus on delivering seamless, user-centric digital services, integrating intelligent updates into everyday driving without requiring user intervention.
