Radioplayer Brings Real-Time Audience Analytics Into the Connected Car

0

Radioplayer is giving broadcasters a much clearer view of what happens inside the car with a new In-Car module for Radioplayer Insight, designed to measure radio listening across DAB, FM and IP streaming from a single analytics platform.

The new system processes connected-car listening data within minutes, allowing broadcasters to understand where and when audiences listen, how long they stay tuned and which stations they select. Crucially, it also identifies whether the listening session is being delivered through traditional broadcast or internet streaming.

Radioplayer’s technology is already integrated across 19 automotive brands, with carmakers beginning to connect their primary radio experiences to the new analytics module. This gives broadcasters access to data generated directly from the connected-car environment rather than relying solely on conventional audience measurement.

The ability to identify the delivery method adds another layer of intelligence. Broadcasters can see when listeners are using DAB, FM or IP, potentially helping them understand how coverage, connectivity and the vehicle’s hybrid radio system influence listening behaviour.

The In-Car module sits alongside Radioplayer’s existing Out-of-Car analytics within the Radioplayer Insight Dashboard. Broadcasters also have access to tools for improving metadata quality and controlling how their stations appear across connected vehicles and other digital platforms.

Radioplayer says the service is available to all of its member broadcasters at no additional cost, while the listening data remains owned by the broadcasters themselves. Further automotive integrations are expected to expand the reach of the platform over time.

As radio becomes increasingly integrated into connected infotainment platforms, the launch brings the type of near-real-time audience intelligence associated with digital streaming services into traditional in-car radio, giving broadcasters a better understanding of how their content is actually consumed on the road.
