Cinemo and SmashLabs Bring Immersive Gaming to the Connected Car

0

Cinemo has partnered with gaming specialist SmashLabs to introduce a new in-car gaming platform that transforms connected vehicles into interactive entertainment hubs. The collaboration combines Cinemo’s infotainment software with SmashLabs’ music-driven gaming technology to deliver immersive experiences that leverage a vehicle’s displays, audio system, lighting, haptics and climate controls.

The first title to launch on the platform is Smashworld: Beat Explorers, a rhythm-based game where gameplay is synchronized with music and enhanced by Dolby Atmos audio when supported by the vehicle. Additional downloadable music packs will also be available through partnerships with Sony Music Publishing and Extreme Music.

Unlike traditional in-car games, the platform is designed to make use of multiple vehicle systems simultaneously, creating a multi-sensory experience for passengers during charging stops or while travelling. The solution is optimized for low-latency performance across multiple displays and connected devices, allowing several occupants to participate together.

The partnership reflects a broader shift within the automotive industry as software-defined vehicles increasingly evolve into digital entertainment platforms. Automakers are investing in services that extend beyond navigation and media streaming, using gaming and interactive content to differentiate their cabin experiences and generate new opportunities for customer engagement.

For Cinemo, the collaboration further expands its portfolio of connected cockpit solutions, while giving OEMs another way to enhance the passenger experience. As vehicles become more connected and autonomous over time, interactive entertainment is expected to play an increasingly important role in defining the next generation of digital cabins.
