Acura Brings Gemini AI to the Dashboard as In-Car Assistants Become More Conversational

Acura is expanding the role of artificial intelligence inside its vehicles by integrating Google’s Gemini assistant into select models equipped with Google built-in. The rollout marks another step in the automotive industry’s shift from traditional voice commands to more natural, context-aware interactions.

Available on compatible ADX, MDX and ZDX models, Gemini replaces Google Assistant with a more capable conversational interface that understands follow-up requests and retains context throughout a conversation. Rather than relying on rigid voice commands, drivers can interact with the system using everyday language while keeping their attention on the road.

The upgrade also introduces Gemini Live, enabling free-flowing conversations that extend beyond navigation or vehicle controls. Drivers can ask the assistant to plan trips, summarize the latest news, brainstorm ideas, or recommend stops along a journey without restarting the conversation each time.

For automakers, the move highlights how generative AI is rapidly becoming a differentiator in the software-defined vehicle.
